In honor of my daughter, an honor student, who is also a proud member of the US Army, and in honor of the thousands of US military experts who serve and defend the nation I love, I offer my humble opinion regarding the US armed forces. I believe: · There is no higher calling than to serve our country in the military. · The US military should not be considered a “lesser” career, nor should it be labeled as a career for those who could not succeed elsewhere. · The members of the US armed forces are among the most intelligent in the world, second to none, innovative, and among the most honored people in our nation. · The equipment and supplies provided to our country’s soldiers should be second to none, no excuses. I believe: · We should make our country’s military competitive in the workforce, and those who choose to make the military a career should retire with benefits that are among the top in the nation. · Increased compensation must be a priority for all servants in the military, not just high ranking members. · The family of a fallen soldier should have no need to worry about compensation, as they should be provided only the best in benefits. · Recruitment should honest and forthright. I believe: · Health benefits to veterans should not be marginal, but should be exceptional. Soldiers are trained not to leave behind a fallen comrade… our nation should not leave behind those who have protected us and served us in this decade, or past decades. · That our nation’s veterans homes are under funded and DO NOT reflect the honor and respect owed to our nations past heroes. · We can do more to help those injured during their service to our country, so that they can live at standards worthy of a hero. Finally, I offer my thanks to those who serve, and the families of those who have paid the ultimate price during their service. There are no words to express what our country owes you in gratitude. As president, I will do everything in my power to aid them in their mission, and I will never use our military for anything other than the protection of the citizens of the United States or its allies.
